RV Rental Tips - Know Before You Rent

At Southwest RV Rentals, we strive to make your trip or event memorable, and as easy as possible. Whether you decide to rent from Southwest RV Rentals, or anyone else, below is a list of tips or suggestions of what to look for in an RV and who you do business with.

  • Go look at the unit in-person and meet the company representative or owner in person. Every RV is different so it is a good idea to see the layout both open, and closed, to make sure it fits your needs. Also every coach has its own weight rating so make sure you pick out the correct RV for your trip. Overloading an RV could result in equipment failure, or tire blowout.
  • Get the quote in writing along with what is included. Mileage, dumping, cleaning inside and out, generator usage (Required to operate A/C units while driving), propane, prep fee, and or insurance all need to be detailed as in, or out of, price.
  • Inquire about how the RV is maintained. RV’s have multiple systems that require maintenance. This requires time and if not properly done it could result in a break down. You never want to drive on old tires no matter what they look like. This is why tire manufactures put date stamps on each tire. Make sure before every trip that all the maintenance is being done including the tire pressure. Underinflated tires are the number one cause for blowouts.
  • Ask what happens if you have a major breakdown? This does not happen often but if it does will they bring you another unit? How will they address your issues on the road?
  • Do Your Research and check reviews: Better Business Bureau, Online Reviews such as Google, Yelp, Facebook, etc. How long has that company been in business? Be sure to look for the hidden reviews, if the reviews are hidden, there is probably a reason why

The more you know up front, the better prepared you will be and that will set you up for a smooth and memorable trip.
